Fitment, in plain terms
Fits every 1996–2002 3rd gen 4Runner (N180/N185), but not 1990–1995 2nd gen trucks. Raised rails, a flush track, or a bare roof? This rack sidesteps that question: it bolts to the factory mounting points if you have them, or mounts direct-to-roof with steel rivnuts (sold separately) if you don't.
What it does
Its ratings are dynamic: what it carries while the truck is moving. Our rack guide explains that washboard roads multiply forces, so dynamic is always the smaller number; static is what it holds parked. Direct-to-roof mounting spreads load into the roof structure, which is why the rating climbs from 110 lbs dynamic on the factory rack to 250 lbs. For static figures, contact us about your setup.

Can I put a rooftop tent on it?
Our rack guide doesn't list rooftop tents as a typical load: a 2-person hardshell tent commonly runs 130–180 lbs by itself. If you are set on one, do the math against the dynamic rating, not the static number, and mount direct-to-roof with rivnuts.
How does a rack this size ship?

Can I return it if it does not suit my setup?
No. The rack mounts to a specific truck, and our Return Policy says “Anything that mounts to a specific truck is final sale once shipped”. Email us about your truck and load plans first; we will happily confirm compatibility.
